Senator Win Gatchalian urged the Commission on Higher Education (CHED) to make sure all 300,000 slots for the Tertiary Education Subsidy (TES) under the Free Higher Education Law (Republic Act 10931) are filled up before closing applications.

Senator Win Gatchalian vowed to fight for the budget of the Commission on Higher Education (CHED) and oppose any cuts to the funding of CHED’s Student Financial Assistance Programs (StuFAPs).

Senator Win Gatchalian called for the scrapping of the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency's (PDEA) plan to conduct mandatory drug testing of students, proposing instead that the budget for the drug tests be used to hire more guidance counselors for the Department of Education (DepEd).

Troubled by the poor marks for educational access and quality earned by the Philippines in various international rankings, Senator Win Gatchalian is calling on the Senate to exercise its legislative oversight powers to conduct a comprehensive performance review of the country's education system.
