Workers to keep overtime, holiday and hazard pay, night differentials, service charges in full under GINHAWA bill —Gatchalian

Workers earning overtime, holiday and hazard pay, and night differentials, as well as employees receiving service charges, would be able to keep their additional income in full under the proposed GINHAWA bill, Senator Win Gatchalian said, emphasizing that this applies to all workers regardless of income level.

“Sa hirap ng buhay ngayon, gusto nating pagaanin ang buhay hindi lang ng mga low-income earners kundi pati ng mga middle-income earners,” Gatchalian said.

“The GINHAWA bill aims to ease the tax burden on ordinary Filipino workers by exempting overtime, holiday and hazard pay, night differentials, and service charges from income tax, helping them cope with rising living costs,” he added.

As the ‘taxpayers’ voice’, Gatchalian explained that the GINHAWA bill effectively translates into an additional wage hike without imposing an additional burden on employers.

GINHAWA is expected to benefit uniformed personnel, such as police and military men, and health workers who typically receive hazard pay. The same applies to BPO employees and other night-shift workers, along with service industry staff such as hairdressers, fitness trainers, and food servers who usually earn service charges.
