The Senate has officially designated Atty. Reginald “Regie” Tongol as the spokesperson of the Impeachment Court for the trial of Vice President Sara Z. Duterte. 

As the official spokesperson of the Impeachment Court, Atty. Tongol shall provide official updates on the proceedings and serve as the primary point of contact for the media on matters relating to the impeachment trial. His responsibilities include communicating the official actions of the Impeachment Court, issuing press statements, and responding to the media’s factual queries. He will also help ensure that information released to the public is accurate, timely, and consistent with the official records of the Impeachment Court, while upholding the integrity, independence, and orderly conduct of the proceedings. 

This marks Atty. Tongol’s second designation as spokesperson of the Impeachment Court, having previously served in the same capacity during the impeachment proceedings in the 19th Congress. His familiarity with the Rules of Procedure on Impeachment Trials, together with his experience in legal practice as Partner of Regie Tongol & Associates Law and Communications and his previous experience as a news anchor for UNTV Channel 37, equips him to effectively discharge the responsibilities of the position and support the accurate and responsible communication of the Impeachment Court’s official actions and proceedings.

For administrative purposes, Atty. Tongol will be officially engaged through the Office of the Secretary of the Senate.
