PNP’s NCRPO lauds Gatchalian for police modernization projects

A division of the Philippine National Police (PNP) has awarded Valenzuela City Congressman Win Gatchalian in Taguig City last Monday for implementing best practices for police modernization in Valenzuela City.

In a formal ceremony held inside Camp Bagong Diwa last July 29, PNP’s National Capital Region Police Office or NCRPO conferred the “Best Among The Best Practices Local Chief Executive” award to Gatchalian for his advocacy in police modernization in Valenzuela City.

Through the award, the NCRPO acknowledged Gatchalian’s efforts in improving the capacity and capability of the Philippine National Police in Valenzuela City to ensure the security of the public during his term as city mayor from 2004 to 2013.

The Philippine National Police awards local executives who contribute to police modernization, development, and other projects that help the police provide better service.

In order to show his support to the Philippine National Police in his capacity as mayor, Gatchalian provided equipment, patrol cars, and motorcycles to the local police.

He also supported police modernization by giving them additional training to raise their level of expertise in the profession.

Gatchalian believes that by providing the needs of the Philippine National Police in Valenzuela City, the local government would be ensuring the safety and security of the constituents.

Aside from Gatchalian, Valenzuela City Police Chief Inspector Fidel B. Fortaleza Jr., chief of the Northern Police District (NPD), was also awarded for his work in the Police Community Relations unit.
