Gatchalian thanks Manila Mayor Erap for endorsing his senate bid

Valenzuela Rep. Sherwin “Win” Gatchalian today thanked former President and now Manila Mayor Joseph “Erap” Estrada for endorsing him in his senatorial bid and including him in Erap’s “Magic 12.”

Gatchalian, who has filed his certificate of candidacy (COC) for senator under the Nationalist Peoples Coalition (NPC) believes that Estrada’s endorsement is still significant particularly among the D and E classes as well as in Mindanao.

“From the bottom of my heart, I would like to thank President-Mayor Erap for including me in his ‘Magic 12.’ His endorsement will definitely give a big boost to my senatorial bid,” said Gatchalian.

Estrada said he is endorsing Gatchalian and 11 other senatorial aspirants from different political parties and persuasions because of their educational attainment, track record in government service and their pro-poor programs.

Estrada is not endorsing the candidacy of those who are involve din the black propaganda operation against Vice President Jejomar Binay, who is running for president under the United Nationalist Alliance (UNA).

Gatchalian was a three-term mayor of Valenzuela City and it was under his watch that the city received various awards such as the Galing Pook Award and the Seal of Good Housekeeping by the Department of Interior and Local Government.

Gatchalian, who represents Valenzuela City’s 1st congressional district, is also pushing for passage of the “Free Higher Education Act,” which will fully subsidize tuition fees in all state universities and colleges (SUCs) for any undergraduate and certificate degree.
