Senator Win Gatchalian said the rollout of revenue regulations (RR) enforcing the Ease of Paying Taxes Act marks a significant stride towards achieving seamless tax transactions and fostering better revenue adherence.
“Taxpayers can now rejoice as the dream of simpler tax payments becomes a tangible reality. I firmly believe that by fully implementing this legislation, we will not only ensure easier tax payments but also strengthen our commitment to efficient revenue collection,” said Gatchalian, the principal author of the law.
The regulations cover the new classifications of taxpayers, simplified filing process for tax returns and payments, and lower rates for micro and small taxpayers, among others.
For instance, RR No. 4-2024 governs the filing of tax returns and tax payments, allowing electronic and manual transactions. It also removes the civil penalty for tax returns filed at the wrong venue. This also covers the exemption of overseas contract workers solely deriving income abroad from filing income tax returns.
RR No. 6-2024 imposes reduced interest rates and penalties for micro and small taxpayers while RR No. 8-2024 classifies taxpayers based on gross sales.
“Gusto natin na mas maging madali para sa lahat ng taxpayers ang pagbabayad ng kanilang obligasyon sa gobyerno. Kung magagawa natin ito sa pamamagitan ng EOPT law, mas marami sa kanila ang magpaparehistro at mas lalaki ang kita ng gobyerno na kailangan natin para tustusan ang mga programa na magpapalakas sa ating ekonomiya,” he concluded.
