Senator Win Gatchalian is pushing for the creation of a “Build Back Better Fund” in next year’s national budget to accelerate recovery and reconstruction in communities devastated by recent calamities. He said senators are eyeing the Local Government Support Fund (LGSF) as a possible source of financing for the proposed initiative.

As chair of the Senate Committee on Finance, Gatchalian is also pushing for higher allocations for post-disaster rehabilitation, particularly for rebuilding classrooms, restoring heritage sites, and providing permanent housing to displaced families.

He reaffirmed his commitment to support areas most affected by natural disasters. He is donating over ₱11 million worth of rice, while the local government of Valenzuela City is contributing more than ₱8 million in cash assistance to several hard-hit areas—including Bogo City and its neighboring municipalities in Cebu, as well as parts of Masbate, Oriental Mindoro, Romblon, Biliran, and Calbayog City.

“Pagtulungan nating ibalik ang dignidad ng bawat pamilyang nawalan. Hindi lang tayo magtatayo ng bahay at mga istruktura; magtatayo din tayo ng bagong pag-asa,”Gatchalian said.
