Senate President Win Gatchalian expressed his sincere gratitude to Senator Joel Villanueva, whose presence at today’s special session allowed the Senate to move forward with the nation’s pressing legislative agenda.

“What Senator Villanueva did today was an act of statesmanship. We are deeply grateful for his selflessness, which came at a moment when the Senate needed it most,” Gatchalian said.

He noted that Villanueva’s long record of public service speaks for itself.

“Hindi madali ang ginawang desisyon ni Senador Villanueva, pero ipinakita niya na mas mahalaga ang kapakanan ng bansa at ng taumbayan kasya sa anumang sigalot sa pulitika,” he said.

The Senate President emphasized that the Senate’s full attention now turns to the issues that matter most to the Filipino people and the legislative priorities identified in the President’s call to special session.

“Sinabi rin sa akin ni Senador Villanueva na ito mismo ang kanyang nais, ang Senado na bumalik sa trabaho. Kaya ngayon, gagawin namin iyon. Sama-sama, bilang isang Senado, para sa isang bansa,” he said.
