Gatchalian Distributes Cash, Food Assistance to Aurora as Province Braces for More Rains

As Aurora braces for more typhoons in the coming weeks, Senator Win Gatchalian visited the province to assess the situation of communities hit by recent storms. He distributed cash and food assistance to affected residents, offering immediate relief to families still reeling from the devastation. Aurora is among the provinces that bore the brunt of Super Typhoon Uwan, leaving many households struggling to recover.

“Sana ay magpatuloy at lalo pang tumibay ang mga rehabilitasyon at pagbangon ng mga biktima ng bagyo. Nandito lang tayo para tuloy-tuloy nating matulungan ang mga nasalanta sa kanilang pagbangon,” said Gatchalian, noting PAGASA’s reminder that a few more weather disturbances are expected to affect the country before the year ends.

In partnership with Valenzuela City, Gatchalian, together with Valenzuela Councilors Mickey Pineda and Nina Lopez, delivered ₱1.9 million in cash assistance and ₱2.193 million worth of rice to affected families in the municipalities of Casiguran, Dipaculao, Maria Aurora, Dingalan, San Luis, Dinalungan, and Baler. Latest data from the Department of Social Welfare and Development show that a total of 40,392 families in Aurora were adversely affected by the recent super typhoon.

According to PAGASA, the shear line, or the boundary where warm and cold air masses collide and generate rain-bearing clouds, will bring cloudy skies with scattered rains and isolated thunderstorms over certain provinces in Luzon, including Aurora.
