Gatchalian cautions against electricity overload to prevent fire incidents amid scorching heat

Senator Win Gatchalian cautioned against potential electricity overload in high-density areas to prevent fire incidents amid high demand for energy on scorching temperatures.

He pointed to the recent fires in Port Area and Tondo in Manila on April 23 as a case in point.

Gatchalian led the distribution of food aid today to 2,431 families who recently lost their homes in separate fire incidents across Manila.

In total, over 1,700 bags of 10-kilogram rice, worth P663,000, were given to 1,579 affected families in Barangay 650 in Port Area. Also, 1,000 rice bags, valued at P390,000, were handed over to 852 families in Barangay 123 in Tondo.

The senator emphasized that residents in densely populated areas must take responsibility in helping prevent power overloads, particularly during the summer months.
