The municipal government of Bustos in Bulacan province has finally agreed to adopt the “Nanay-Teacher Parenting Camp,” which marks the start of the exchange of best practices and ideas between their local government and Valenzuela City.
Valenzuela City Congressman Win Gatchalian confirmed that the Municipality of Bustos committed to conduct the parenting program in the multi-purpose gymnasium of Dr. Pablito V. Mendoza Sr. High School from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. this coming Sunday, November 30.
Around 400 parents from public schools in Bustos were invited to participate in the “Nanay-Teacher Parenting Camp”, which already guided over 60,000 parents in the proper way of boosting their kids’ performances in public schools in Valenzuela City alone.
The event was set to simultaneously happen with the signing of the sisterhood agreement between Gatchalian, on behalf of the city government of Valenzuela, and Mayor Arnel Mendoza, on behalf of the local government of Bustos on Sunday morning.
In the seven-hour parenting program, participants will be taught several pointers and tips on parenting under the guidance of parenting specialist and radio commentator Dr. Blesilda “Mommy Bessie” Rios.
Parents will also have the chance to inquire on their parental concerns through peer-to-peer discussion, and question and answer portion.
Around 16 members of Parent-Teacher Association (PTA) from Valenzuela City public elementary schools, who underwent a three-day training in Tanza, Cavite last August, will facilitate a workshop that will help parents how to practice the lessons Rios will be sharing in her lecture.
Last November 15, Gatchalian was able to bring the parenting program outside Valenzuela City for the first time as the local government of Marilao brought the “Nanay-Teacher Parenting Camp” to around 26 parents in the Bulacan town.
Aside from the town of Marilao and Bustos, Gatchalian is currently in talks with four other LGUs to propagate the advocacy of “Nanay-Teacher Parenting Camp” in other parts of the country before the year ends. (Tim Alcantara)
