BSP elects Gatchalian as its NCR chair

The Boy Scouts of the Philippines of BSP has elected Valenzuela City Congressman Win Gatchalian as the new chairman of the organization in the National Capital Region or NCR.

The Boy Scouts of the Philippines of BSP has elected Valenzuela City Congressman Win Gatchalian as the new chairman of the organization in the National Capital Region or NCR.

Gatchalian replaced Makati City Mayor Erwin “Junjun” Binay during the election of new officers held at the annual regional scout committee meeting Valenzuela City Hall last Feb. 3.

The former Valenzuela City mayor previously served as the vice chair of BSP since 2013 as well as chairman of the group in Valenzuela City Council or BSPVCC from 2007.

BSPVCC received two Silver Awards for its membership campaigns and for having the second-highest percentage of potential Boy Scout membership among other BSP chapters in NCR with 30.95 percent, which is next to Makati City with 42.47 percent.

It also received an achievement award for a rapid increase of members, reaching a total of 14,456 members this year – a huge improvement from 2,798 members in 2014.

Baltazar Gayem, who is the Council Scout Executive of the BSPVCC, said there has been an increase on the number of fora to promote excellence and recruit more scouts in Valenzuela City under the leadership of Gatchalian.

“Nung naupo si Congressman (Gatchalian) as Chairman ng BSP sa Valenzuela City, dumami yung mga council meetings ng mga boy scouts sa siyudad para mapagusapan yung mga aktibidad sa mga eskwelahan,” Gayem explained.

“Dumami rin yung bilang ng Boy Scouts sa mga paaralan sa Valenzuela City dahil na rin sa pagiging aktibo ng BSP sa Valenzuela City at sa pagpo-promote na rin ni Congressman Win,” he added.
