Blood letting, fun run events highlight of Gatchalian’s 41st birthday

Valenzuela City Congressman Win Gatchalian is inviting everyone to participate in the blood-letting drive that will be held in the newly constructed Jeepney Market in Karuhatan, Valenzuela City from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Mar. 28.

 

The blood-letting drive is part of his public service activities and celebration of his upcoming 41st birthday on Apr. 6.

 

Gatchalian, who is a member of Philippine Red Cross or PRC’s Board of Director, made it a self-commitment to annually donate blood since he became a member of Red Cross in his college years.

The Red Cross governor said the blood units that will collected in the activity will be sent to PRC’s blood banks to assure that there are no shortages on blood.

 

Aside from the blood donation activity, Gatchalian also encourages everyone to participate in the Fun Run that he will also lead on Mar. 28 to promote the habit of exercise and healthy lifestyle.

 

People interested in participating may register till Mar. 27, Friday, 5 p.m. at the Sports Development Office at Valenzuela City Hall or inquire at 352-1000 local 1215.

 

As of Mar. 26, over 3,000 individuals have already signed up for the event and have received their race bibs and food stubs for the event.

 

The assembly time for the Fun Run is at 4 a.m. and will kick off at 5:30 a.m. at Valenzuela City Astrodome and will be finished at the Valenzuela City’s ALERT Center.

Participants can join any of the four categories – 2.5K, 3K, 5K, and 7K – in the Fun Run.

 

In his 40th birthday last year, Gatchalian also conducted a blood-letting drive, medical mission, and Fun Run in different parts of Metro Manila.

 

A total of 4,326 units of blood were collected from his blood-letting drive in Bulacan State University (BSU), Ever Gotesco Commonwealth, Quezon City Hall, SM Valenzuela, and Our Lady of Family University or OLFU – Lagro. (Camille Nepomuceno)
