“Fresh from the holiday celebrations and other big events such as the Traslación, we are once again reminded of the sheer volume of waste we generate. One of our collective resolutions should be to significantly reduce waste to protect our environment and secure our future. 

The observance of Zero Waste Month at the start of the year highlights the urgency of recalibrating our policies and reimagining a more sustainable Philippines. I have long advocated for waste-to-energy (WTE) as a way to address our growing garbage problem while strengthening energy security.
