The Philippine Science High School System (PSHSS) will get an additional P413 million to give scholarship grants its first increase in 10 years, Senator Win Gatchalian said.
The allocation is expected to support 10,935 scholars for 2026. To date, full scholars receive a monthly grant of P4,000, while partial scholars receive between P500 to P3,500. The additional allocation will double the monthly grant of full scholars to P8,000, while partial scholars will receive P4,000.
Increasing the monthly grants to scholars will prevent them from dropping out amid rising costs of living and education, Gatchalian pointed out. The lawmaker added that the increase in scholarship packages will provide equitable support to learners, particularly those from low-income households and remote regions.
