‘Nanay-Teacher’ parenting program shares tips to PTA in Bustos

The highest executive in the municipality of Bustos has promised to continue holding the “Nanay-Teacher Parenting Camp” in all public schools in the Bulacan following its successful launch at the Dr. Pablito Mendoza gymnasium last Sunday.

Bustos Mayor Arnel Mendoza, who also signed sisterhood agreement with Valenzuela City on November 30, said he will talk to various local leaders and school officials to discuss the further conduct of the “Nanay-Teacher Parenting Camp” in his town.

“100 percent nating susuportahan ang napakagandang programa na ito at makakatiyak kayong ibababa natin ito sa ibang magulang at guro sa mga public school,” Mendoza said at the sidelines of the parenting program.

Mendoza made the commitment after thanking Valenzuela City Congressman Win Gatchalian for choosing Bustos as the second town to have its parents and teachers receive training and workshop under “Nanay-Teacher Parenting Camp”.

Around 350 parents attended the seven-hour lecture and workshop with valuable parenting tips.

He also commended the program for bridging the gap not only between the parents and the teachers, but most especially teach parents on how to grow closer to their children without sacrificing discipline which can help them perform better at school.

“Ang ‘Nanay-Teacher’ ‘yan ang sikreto ng isang matagumpay na bata, isang matagumpay na edukasyon. Kailangan magkatuwang lagi ang nanay at teacher,” Mendoza said in his opening remarks.

“Nakakatuwang isipin na kapatid na namin ang lungsod ng Valenzuela na nakapagdala sila ng isang magandang programa tulad ng ‘Nanay-Teacher’ dito sa Bustos. Maganda ‘yung may link ang magulang at teacher, maging sa school,” he continued.

“Iyan ang perfect formula para magkaroon ng isang good education sa aming lugar,” he concluded.

Gatchalian, for his part, thanked Mendoza for committing to support the program to help parents avoid not having enough time to address the needs of their children especially when it comes to their school and behaviors.

The veteran lawmaker also thanked Citizens’ Battle Against Corruption (CIBAC) party-list Rep. Sherwin Tugna for coming out and discussing the society’s need for better parenting programs.

This is the second time that Gatchalian was able to conduct “Nanay-Teacher Parenting Camp” outside Valenzuela City after successfully holding the parenting program in Marilao town in Bulacan province on November 15. (RR Rivera)
