Valenzuela City Congressman Win Gatchalian has formally asked for the support of all 65 lawmakers, who are members of the House Committee on Higher and Technical Education, to expedite the enactment of his House Bill No. 5905 into law.

HB 5905 or the “Free Higher Education Act” aims to fully subsidize tuition fees in all state universities and colleges (SUCs) for any undergraduate and certificate degree.

In his letter, Gatchalian, also a member of the committee on Higher and Technical Education, stressed to his fellow lawmakers the need to provide free college education to an estimate of 1.5 million deserving Filipino students nationwide.

The education advocate added that such ambitious reform would secure and promote the right of Filipino to education at all levels.

“Together, let us work to build the foundation of a more just and equitable higher education system that will mold our best and brightest minds into catalysts of change and social progress for generations to come,” Gatchalian asked.
