The INC, whose endorsement is heavily sought by political candidates every election in the country, announced Tuesday night the 12 senatorial bets they’re supporting in the coming May 9 poll exercise with the inclusion of Gatchalian while the country’s largest Catholic charismatic movement El Shaddai endorsed the senator last Saturday, April 30.

Gatchalian is also among the 12 candidates endorsed by the UBJP, the political party of the MILF.

“The United Bangsamoro Justice Party is committed to protect the Bangsamoro people and safeguard the gains of the Bangsamoro Peace Process. After careful assessment of the track record, conviction, and contribution to the Bangsamoro of candidates for senators in the 2022 national elections, the UBJP has decided to officially endorse our hand-picked candidates for senators,” it said in a press statement dated May 2, 2022.

“As a genuinely-principled political party, the UBJP respects the electoral exercise and urges the voting public to exercise their constitutional right of suffrage on May 9, 2022. We join everyone in praying for a safe, clean, peaceful and honest elections,” the statement added.

Gatchalian was among those who participated in the Senate deliberations in 2018 of Republic Act No. 11054, the “Act Providing for the Organic Law for the Bangsamoro Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao.”
